| Peggy Lee, Peggy Lee, OH
Peggy Lee..... If you're old enough to
remember that song, you probably remember a well when this darling little
blush pink Hybrid Tea was introduced as a tribute to one of Americas beloved
singers. We thought our only specimen was lost but this year a small
sprig managed to come back and hold on long enough for me to see it in the
garden. I've since transplanted it to to the "motherhouse" for
safe-keeping and it seems to be making a comeback.
A pale color sport of Century Two, Peggy Lee maintains
all the other fine features of the parent. Pleasant upright and bushy
growth make it an attractive plant. The blooms are cupped,
somewhat fragrant at times and are produced from long pointed buds.
Foliage is dark leathery and in spite of our example having RMV seems to be
a tough little survivor. As no clean sources are known for this
variety (in fact for Lucky Piece and Peggy Lee we may be the last) we will
continue to maintain.
